In Prevention of PolioPolio is a life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus. It can spread from person to person and can infect the brain and spinal cord causing paralysis (unable to move body parts). Poliovac Vaccine gives protection against poliovirus. It works by helping the immune system to produce antibodies to fight against the virus. It is advisable to consult your doctor for complete information regarding vaccination schedules.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Poliovac Vaccine contains inactivated (killed) viruses of all three poliovirus types (I, II & III). It works by causing your body to produce its own protection (antibodies). In the event of infection, these antibodies prevent the spread of the virus to the brain and protect against paralysis.

Alcohol:
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Poliovac Vaccine. Please consult your doctor.

Pregnancy:
Poliovac Vaccine is safe to use during pregnancy. Most studies have shown low or no risk to the developing baby.

Breastfeeding:
Poliovac Vaccine is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Driving:
Poliovac Vaccine does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Kidney:
There is limited information available on the use of Poliovac Vaccine in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.

Liver:
There is limited information available on the use of Poliovac Vaccine in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

Poliovac Vaccine is prescribed for the prevention of polio disease.
Inform your doctor if you ever had a life-threatening allergic reaction after a dose of polio vaccination.
If you are severely ill, you should probably wait until you recover. Your doctor can advise you on this.
You can apply an ice pack on the injection site if you experience pain and redness.
